Well HELLO!!! :D
So I'm trying to blog more often, but studying for exams is making it kinda difficult; so sorry for the lateness on this one!
Not much has happened this week really... Actually, screw that. A LOT has happened.
I believe I left you all hanging last Tuesday the 5th... Well, that night I went to choir rehearsal; as I do every Tuesday night... The difference with this one? We went to a hall in town that has the most amazing acoustics EVER! Well, I don't know about ever... But it's so much better than the dinghy room we normally rehearse in. There was only four of us there (the numbers die down so much during the second half of semesters; it's insane). [Tytanic], myself, and two other ladies; the 'leader' of the choir [Penham] and a fellow Eurovision-enthusiast, overall hilarious girl [Rachier] (I have my reasons for the names guys... Don't judge...).
For most of the rehearsal, we just played around with the songs we were learning. Standing at opposite corners of the room trying to hear each other and keep up with sound delays; coming together and changing keys for a song and seeing how far we can get before screwing up... About halfway through, [Tytanic] got frustrated (as most Aspergian's do, so I was in sympathy with him) and instantly reclined into his 'shell'. In other words, he went outside and just stood there until it ended, trying to get over the embarrassment and frustration he was feeling. The incident that caused this was when we were trying to get [Tytanic] onto the right note for the song. We were doing cannons (for those who don't know, cannons is when you all sing the same song; but one person starts first, with the second person starting a couple of lines after, etc etc) and we gave him the opportunity to have a cannon to himself. The only thing is. His pitch is... Well. Terrible.
I don't want to sound horrible, but it's true! We try to tell him to go down, he ends up going up; or just staying on the same note and lowering his head in the hopes that it would change things. It's slightly hilarious when he does things like that; but he's one of those singers that just sing however they want, without realising that they're now in a choir and need to know how to pitch themselves so we're all singing the same thing.
MOVING ON!
Once [Tytanic] had 'left', [Rachier] brought out one of the songs we're doing. Dona Nobis Pachem. One of the most simple songs ever, but so beautiful when sung. [Rachier] then started playing around with it, and what she came up with was amazing. I'd try explain it, but everyone would probably get confused unless you can understand the 'singing language' to put it simply :P
Wednesday and Thursday were both rather uneventful. Procrastinating study during the day, then cramming some in after dinner. Yeah... Boring times...
Come Friday! I woke up late, then headed to lunch. As soon as I stepped into my room to get to some study, the intercom went off saying that the Pitt merchandise we had ordered was at the Bos Club waiting to be picked up. Let's just say I have never moved so fast to get to the merch! I, personally, had ordered a pair of track pants (all merch is in Pitt colours; so green & bits of yellow, with black on the pants), a polo shirt and a hoodie with my name in Italian on the back. They are so comfy to wear!!! O.O Anyways... After I had collected them, I packed and studied a bit before heading home for the weekend. In my excitement to show my parents the new merch, it turns out I hadn't packed anything else to wear for the weekend; resulting in me wearing the merch everywhere that weekend. Not that I was complaining... PITT PRIDE AROUND MY HOME TOWN Y'ALL! :D Heehee.
So Saturday morning arrived and I headed over to the house of a Subway manager to go through three hours of induction. Immediately, I noticed that this string of Subway's are a lot more professional than the last one I worked at. I was the only person there who had previously worked at a Subway before, and had printed proof of having completed the compulsory online training modules (you have to have completed the basic 16 modules before you can start working/getting paid), so I was able to go home and text my manager straight away that I was ready for work! He told me that he'll give me shifts from next weekend onward, so I was happy.
My boss then added me on Facebook to add me to the group 'Work Amigos', which is a place where the roster is posted up for us to see if we haven't been into store recently; as well as a place where we can request people to take our shifts, let our manager's know we can't work certain dates, etc. The first thing I noticed on the page? Was another member of it... He used to go to my school a few years ago. We never really talked from memory, actually I find him rather annoying. Though this could be due to the fact that we also did work experience at the same place at the same time together. Me on Tuesdays, him on Wednesday's. He always had the days with the surgeries to watch, whereas me? I just cleaned the entire week. I'm going to call him [Quentler], in the hopes that my friends will remember who it is as well...
Which reminds me... Yay for inspiring my friend [Clearly Unfocused] to blog after not doing so for the past three to four months like myself... :3 And good to see that [Tenuto Tuo] has also recently posted. ^.^
Anyways! After the induction, I headed home briefly before heading back out to our local shopping centre. My sister and I were soon craving a Macca's soft serve cone, so we headed over. Who was working? [Carl], of course. But I chose not to cower and hide as I usually do. Instead, I stood confidently beside Mum; chatting away with my sister as she ordered. This may not seem like much to some people; but to me, it was a massive achievement. I'm slowly getting over him, and slowly getting on with my life; and I'm proud of what I did on Saturday, as it shows that I'm being the stronger person out of this.
The look on [Carl]'s face was one of typical shock and pain, followed by not looking at me the rest of the time I was there. When, out of work habit, he whirled around saying "Chicken and cheese burger?", he then realised that it was intended for my Mum. I saw him froze the tiniest bit before handing it delicately to her, as though touching/looking at her would be toxic. It was hilarious (and slightly disrespectful), but I saved my giggling for when I left the food court.
After that, we headed to the local liquor store; where they had a special of six bottles for $20. So of course, we looked like alcoholics when leaving... But it was worth it! :P
I did a teensy bit of attempted study before heading out to my favourite Mexican restaurant for dinner. It was only my brother, Mum and I; and between us ladies, we had a glass and a half of sangria. Which is this amazing fruity punch that I absolutely adore... Anyways! When we got home, Mum then decided to open one of our new bottles of champagne... Now... When champagne is opened, it can't be re-corked, so it has to be drunk... It was still only Mum and I... So we both had around two glasses of champagne as well while watching The Ugly Truth. Which, like every movie, is so bloody predictable. I'm waiting for a movie that will completely shock me and have an ending that I can't predict within the first five minutes of watching the movie; or even looking at the cover.
Sunday morning I woke up with the plan to study my heart out all day before treating myself with a visit to [Riot!]'s place that night. I don't know what it is... But I can't seem to study during the day. My study hours seem to be after dinner, when I'm cosy in my darkened room after gorging on food... No idea why, it's just the way it is. So, I procrastinated. All day long. Mostly by spending time with the sister. Until 6pm arrived, causing me to practically run out the door in anticipation.
I arrived at his house to be told that he was in the shower (he had been at History Alive earlier that day with his fencing school, giving demonstrations), and be approached by his step-father.
"So, you almost finished your first semester at Uni, right?"
"Yeah, just about! Just gotta get through the exams."
"Good! Then you can help me out... I have something to ask you..."
"Umm, okay?"
"Alright, well I'm trying to decide... ... Pool table, or pinball machine?"
This was followed by 10-15 minutes of him taking me to the two points of the house he would place either of them and began passionately describing me what he wanted to with each of them, but how he was really struggling to decide. I tried so hard not to laugh throughout the whole thing because I knew he was being serious; but the way he carried out the question/explanation was just so funny... Thankfully, I was saved by [Riot!] before his dog [Roxy] bowled me over out of excitement; which would have caused me to burst out in pent-up laughter.
The rest of the night was spent having a catch up session on what was happening, eating ice cream with chocolate sauce (Jealous?), and acting like cats... Because, well... Because we just can!
Before too long though, his Mum was driving me back home. Although I now have a job which means I'll be home practically every weekend; it doesn't mean we'll be able to see each other much. Half the time [Riot!] is at his Dad's, and we both have studies to keep on top of; as well as any other commitments we might have. Before last night, [Riot!] and I hadn't seen each other since last holidays. That's close to a couple of months. May not seem like much... But for someone like me, who's out at Uni with all her really close friends/family/boyfriend an hour away (or state in three of my best friend's cases), it's really hard. Yes, I am making friends here at Uni; but (especially during SWOTVAC), it's been hard to really get to know people at the moment. Even then, I highly doubt anyone could replace the amazing people back at home (or Adelaide) I have loved, do love and will love for many years to come.
With that sappy moment over (apologies, I didn't expect it...) it is now Monday! The day before my Animal Welfare, Behaviour and Handling exam. This exam, from what I've heard, is a walk in the park; so I'm not overly concerned. It's Plant Biology on Thursday that I'm flipping out over. Anyways... I'm currently procrastinating AWB&H study by doing this blog; though I highly doubt I'm going to get stuck into it once this is finished... I know me too well! ^.^
On a random side note. My best friend [Pinnuck!]/[HorseGirl] (I believe I've called her both in the past, I'm keeping it to [HorseGirl] now guys kay?) is currently on a flight headed to Dubai with her friend. If she didn't live in South Australia, I would've seen her off; and possibly found a way to fit in her suitcase... But alas, I could not. Instead I am dedicating this paragraph to her by saying that I hope she has a fantastic time and to make it home safely! I'm sure both [Mr Awesome] and I would appreciate it ^.^<3
So... Yeah... Ummm... Ciao for now..? :3
